Below are a selection of photos within the athlete gallery for Michelle Goodall: athlete profile : Michelle GoodallI would have loved to compete in bodybuilding when I was in my 20s, but had a lack of confidence. I trained hard in the Gym but was lacking in self belief. I then tore the ligaments in one ankle and all training stopped. Confidence had been my Achilles heal all through my younger years. I was very sporty as a child, reaching State level in Rhythmic Gymnastics. I also was a good sprinter and long jumper as well as swimming. But I never reached my true
potential because of confidence.
I had not done any form of exercise for 11 years until I got back into the gym 2 years ago in 2005. It felt good to be back in a gym. I met some wonderful people who encouraged me to compete. To me, the time had come to prove to myself that I could do this and come out the other end unscathed. It was the most nerve racking experience, but I loved it.
My trainer, Ben Minos had orchestrated a grueling program throughout the year, but it worked. For me 2008 was about beating myself from the previous year. To win the 52kg division and the Overall at the Qld Titles was just beyond anything I had imagined. Then to win the 52kg and Overall at the Nationals was out of this world. I must say that without Ben Minos, I could not have achieved this. I know I have do the training, but Bens knowledge and experience is vital, he is a master at what he does and is also a great guy, he really gets me.
The world titles was the icing on the cake and we can only get bigger and stronger from here.
Body Building has helped me to overcome a lot. I am very fortunate that my husband Chris is so supportive. He is just the most amazing person and my best friend. Chris and our daughter, Savannah mean the world to me.
